My Rental Spot today launched Smart Access, which connects the keypad smart locks, thermostats and sensors that property managers already own and runs access from inside My Rental Spot. Instead of handing out keys or texting codes by hand, managers let the platform issue the right code to the right person for exactly as long as they need it, then remove it automatically.
Smart Access covers four kinds of code. A tenant’s PIN is created at move-in and removed at move-out or when the lease ends. A vendor gets a one-time code tied to the visit window on a work order, removed automatically when the job is closed. An applicant on a self-tour gets a code only after they have been screened and ID-verified, valid only for the tour. And a short-term rental guest gets a code that works from check-in to check-out.
An activity feed ties each unlock to the tenant, vendor, applicant or guest whose code was used, where the lock reports it, and device health alerts flag low batteries, offline locks and tamper events before they become a lockout. Thermostats can switch to energy-saving settings while a unit sits vacant, leak sensors send real-time alerts, and noise sensors for short-term rentals measure sound levels only, never audio.
Smart Access is a paid add-on: $9.99 per enabled lock per month and $6.99 per thermostat or sensor per month, with no charge for codes and no new hardware if you already have a supported keypad lock. Managers switch on only the locks they want billed. Learn more at myrentalspot.com/smart-access or watch the smart locks walkthrough.
